Poland has a responsibility to support Polish identity abroad, as well as education and cultural life, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said in Chicago on Wednesday.

"Contact between representatives of the Polish authorities and the Polish community in Chicago is very important. I wanted to discuss the situation of Polonia. We feel a responsibility to support Polishness abroad, education and cultural life. We are grateful that Poles in the United States are keeping up Polishness and culture, and promote them in their surroundings," Czaputowicz said.

He also encouraged the Polish community in Chicago to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In addition, Czaputowicz met with church and education representatives, as well as with those from Polish schools and organisations that support the needy, including the homeless.
