Poland donates CHF 500,000 for humanitarian aid in eastern Ukraine

Poland will contribute CHF 0.5 million towards humanitarian aid operations in eastern Ukraine by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday.
According to the foreign ministry's press release, the ICRC provides basic medical care in Ukraine, as well as renovates destroyed hospitals, rebuilds damaged schools and water transmission lines.
"There are also programmes for the rehabilitation of people injured as a result of an armed conflict," the ministry said.
The ICRC is Poland's strategic partner in the field of humanitarian aid. The Polish contribution, the ministry explained, is intended to support the ICRC's activities in areas difficult to access in terms of security. It is also part of the commitment which resulted from the Cooperation Agreement with the ICRC signed by Poland on September 26, 2018.
