Poland denies territorial claims on Belarus - MoD

Poland has no territorial claims on any country, including Belarus, the Polish Defence Ministry announced in its official position regarding information on the deployment of one half of the Belarusian army on the country's border with Poland and Lithuania.

On Thursday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, was to inform him that Belarus had deployed half of its army on the border of NATO countries, Lithuania and Poland.

The Polish Defence Ministry stated that Poland supports the democratisation and sovereignty of Belarus, whereas the crisis that the country is struggling with can only be resolved within Belarus itself, "through authentic and constructive dialogue."

The resort also added that Poland, together with the Baltic States, proposed mediation between the authorities and the protesters, as well as help to the civil society of Belarus.

"We do not see any justification for the actions in the military sphere declared by Minsk. We believe that the false claims of a threat from the West are calculated to have a propaganda effect inside Belarus. Poland does not make any territorial claims against other states, including Belarus," the ministry said.
