Poland appeals for statements against Belarusian involvement in Ukraine

The head of EU diplomacy has called on Belarusian authorities to refrain from any further involvement of the country in aggression against Ukraine, heeding such a call to do so from Poland.
On Sunday, in an address to the European Commission, the European Council and the European External Action Service, Poland's Permanent Representative to the EU, Andrzej Sadoś had requested that those institutions issue warnings to Belarus against any provocations against Ukraine.
Josep Borrell said in a statement on Monday that the EU was well aware that the Belarusian government had falsely accused Ukraine, a victim and not an aggressor, of allegedly planning an attack on Belarusian territory.
He issued the statement after an announcement made by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to deploy a joint Belarusian-Russian regional group of troops.
Borrell called on Belarusian authorities to refrain from involving the country in type of aggression and, in particular, to immediately cease using Belarusian territory as a base for attacks on Ukrainian citizens.
