Poland announces creation of regional Business Council
The establishment of a Business Council grouping the presidents of the biggest companies of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) was announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday by Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin.
Minister Sasin stated that Poland is taking upon itself responsibility for the economic development of the whole region.
The deputy PM visited the 'Polish House' (Dom Polski), a promotional initiative by Bank Pekao and insurer PZU and said that he liked the regional dimension of the stand, saying it could be treated not only as an embassy for Polish business but also as an embassy for the whole CEE region.
"We will persuade businesspeople from the whole world and the heads of important institutions responsible for development that it is worth investing in Poland, worth investing in our part of Europe, that it simply pays," the minister said.
Sasin drew attention to the fact that the CEE region is developing extremely dynamically; of the 10 fastest developing European countries in recent years, seven are countries of the CEE region and the leader is Poland, he pointed out. "That gives us a strong mandate not only to present ourselves as the region's leader, but also to have good prospects for development in the coming years," Sasin said.
Highlighting that Davos is a meeting place for businesspeople and politicians from the world over, Sasin said: "We want to take advantage of that time to promote Polish business, to also build a network of good business connections that will bear the fruit of good cooperation in this international dimension," he explained.
"Hence the initiative that will be carried out tomorrow (Wednesday - PAP) - the establishment of a Business Council - a council in which will be gathered the presidents of the biggest companies active in our region. That council should not only build a common platform for promotion but also for planning joint investments in the Three Seas region," Sasin said. The Three Seas region relates to the countries lying between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic seas.
