European Commission spokeswoman Marta Wieczorek, during a European Commission (EC) conference on Monday, recited the poem "Nothing Twice" by Polish Nobel Prize winner Wisława Szymborska.

For several weeks now, EC spokespersons have been selecting poems from European poets every few days and reading them on the podium. The selected poems aim to give hope that the crisis resulting from the coronavirus pandemic will pass and life in Europe will return to its daily rhythm. "Nothing Twice" is one of Szymborska's most famous poems.

Szymborska's poem contemplates that everything in life happens only once and one should enjoy every moment.

The Commission's press office said that Szymborska's poem was read on Monday at the initiative of Dorota Bawołek, a Polsat News correspondent based in Brussels.
