Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has ordered the preparation of plans to build temporary COVID-19 hospitals in all province capitals, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski has announced.

The provinces in the first line of priority are Mazowieckie, where Warsaw is located, the southern province of Małopolskie and the western Wielkopolskie, Niedzielski said.

The move comes amid record daily infection rates of COVID-19 as a second wave of the virus hits Poland and the rest of Europe.

Niedzielski said the three priority provinces were most at risk of growing infection rates. "Those are the places where the projects will be carried out first," he said.
