PM Morawiecki presents outline of plan for Polish farmers

We want to base our plan for farmers on three pillars: protection, support and development, PM Mateusz Morawiecki said on Thursday at a joint press conference with his Agriculture Minister Jan Ardanowski.

Protection will concern natural disasters like this year's drought which seriously reduced farmers' crops, the prime minister said.

"Support will be related to the organisation of markets," the PM said, quoting this year's huge harvest of soft fruit.

Farmers have been complaining about extremely low purchase prices of soft fruit offered by processing plants. According to them, the prices did not even cover production costs.

The third component is growth based on advanced equipment, materials and technologies, Mateusz Morawiecki said.
