PM Morawiecki, EC Vice-President to meet in Warsaw on Monday

Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki will hold another meeting with European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans in Warsaw on Monday to discuss the rule of law in Poland.

"The Monday meeting will be a continuation of dialogue with the European Commission. We hope that all the doubts forwarded by EC officials, including Frans Timmermans, will be dispersed," Michał Dworczyk, the head of the PM's Office, told PAP on Sunday.

"Poland has made many gestures which are proof of good will and our intention to conclude this prolonged dialogue," Dworczyk added.

He also stressed that compromise needed willingness and commitment on both sides. "It seems that until now there has not been enough commitment on the part of the EC," he said.

Referring to his Monday meeting with Timmermans, PM Mateusz Morawiecki told the 13th Congress of Gazeta Polska Clubs in Spała, central Poland, on Saturday that "we have to prepare for a long journey, because we have shown that we are fighting for our stand and that we will not give up very important tax reforms and justice system reforms. Therefore, I do not expect miracles, but we will try to find at least a little common understanding."
