PM appoints new EU minister

Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, currently a deputy foreign minister, will become Poland's new minister for EU affairs, the prime minister announced on Wednesday.
Mateusz Morawiecki said on Polish Radio that the new minister will be a "key player" in shaping Poland's relations with the EU. He added that Szynkowski vel Sęk's formal nomination may take place this week.
Szynkowski vel Sęk replaces Konrad Szymański, who announced his resignation as EU affairs minister earlier on Wednesday.
Commenting on his move, Szymański said he hoped the reshuffle helps Poland in its long-standing rule-of-law conflict with the EU.
