Close to 360,000 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Poland on Monday, the national Material Reserves Agency (ARM) reported.

ARM head Michal Kuczmierowski told PAP that the vaccines should reach the agency at about 9:30 a.m.

He added that vaccines from AstraZeneca should arrive in Poland later this week.

The AstraZeneca vaccine was approved for use in the EU in late January, and is recommended for persons over the age of 18. As yet, there is insufficient data on its effectiveness on patients aged 55 and over. The vaccine may also be less effective on patients with weakened immune systems.

The earlier-introduced Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are confirmed to be 95-percent effective.
