The pandemic is not over and people should continue to wear face masks in large crowds despite mask restrictions being lifted, Poland's health minister tweeted on Thursday.

The government has said the obligation to wear masks will end on March 28. Domestic isolation and quarantine requirements will also end.

Adam Niedzielski warned that the easing of restrictions does not mean the pandemic had disappeared, and appealed to Poles to continue using masks in crowded venues.

"Let us not forget that the epidemic is not over yet, the coronavirus will remain with us. We should be reasonable and responsible, and mask our faces in places where there are large gatherings of people," Niedzielski wrote.

The obligatory use of face masks in public was first introduced in Poland on April 16 2020.
