Over 8,700 Syrian families have received aid from Caritas Polska

Caritas Polska has given assistance to more than 8,700 Syrian families, implemented 150 economic projects and funded scholarships for 200 students from Aleppo, the charity organisation has informed PAP.

According to the organisation, representatives of Caritas Polska visited Syria in November to monitor the activities in Aleppo. They met with their local partners and the families which have benefitted from the generosity of Caritas donors.

The delegates announced that over 8,700 Syrian families had received support from Caritas Polska, and 20,000 Polish donors were involved in providing assistance including families, parish communities, institutions and companies. More than PLN 36 million (EUR 8.37 mln) was given to the needy. The program is celebrating its second anniversary and will continue to run throughout 2019.

Caritas Polska and the Saint Nicholas Foundation jointly implemented the educational projects which included scholarships for 200 students in Aleppo, small educational projects for children and youth, construction of two recreation rooms, reconstruction of the playground at the al-Kalima school and one in the Sakhour district.
