Over 60 pct of Poles back nuclear energy in Poland - poll

Over half of Poles are in favour of nuclear energy in the country, according to the latest poll commissioned by the Climate Ministry.

Nuclear power is supported by 62.5 percent of the Polish respondents, while 31.6 percent are against it.

Forty-six percent of those surveyed did not object to having a nuclear power plant next to their homes. In contras over 51 percent declared the opposite opinion, out of which 32 percent of respondents expressed a strong opposition to such a scenario.

Some 72.6 percent were of the opinion that building a nuclear power plant in Poland is a good way to improve the country's energy security.

The survey was carried out in November on a representative sample of 2,110 people aged from 15 to 75.
