Over 5,200 Polish soldiers mobilised against coronavirus- minister

Nearly 5,235 soldiers and Polish Army employees as well as 835 military units will be engaged in operations aimed at implementing tougher measures to halt the coronavirus's spread in Poland, Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak tweeted on Wednesday.
According to the minister, the Border Guard and Police will be supported by 1,460 soldiers in border protection.
The army is cooperating with other uniformed services and the Ministry of Health in actions aimed at stemming the coronavirus's spread, helping the elderly and people who were placed in quarantine. Fourteen military hospitals and five preventive medicine centers are on standby.
The Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology's Centre for Diagnostics and Combating Biological Threats can carry out 350 coronavirus tests a day. The army has also prepared mobile medical teams, vehicles and facilities adapted for quarantine, and also offers air transport in case of a medical evacuation.
