The Civic Coalition (KO) has decided to file a motion of no confidence in Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, KO parliamentary caucus head Borys Budka said on Tuesday. According to Budka, Ziobro "has ruined the Polish system of justice and prosecution."

KO leaders also announced motions of no confidence in other ministers and, later, a motion for a constructive vote of no confidence in the government.

Budka sharply criticised Ziobro for destroying the Polish system of justice and prosecution, which "has been totally politicised through steps taken by the justice minister and prosecutor general."

In accordance with the Sejm (lower house) statutes, a motion of no confidence in a minister must be signed by at least 231 MPs. The KO parliamentary caucus has 134 members.

Referring to the announcement, ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson Anita Czerwinska said that her party was not taking the motion seriously. "These are routine actions taken by the total opposition despite the fact that they know that such motions have no chance to be implemented," she underlined.
