One miner dead, 16 injured following tremor in mine in south Poland

One miner has died and 16 were injured following a tremor in the Bielszowice coal mine, south Poland, on Thursday, PAP was told by the mine owner, the Polish Mining Group (PGG).

The dead miner was 39 years old. He was resuscitated underground but to no avail. This has been the 22nd fatality in the Polish mining sector this year.

Nine miners suffered serious injuries and the remaining seven minor ones. All of them have been hospitalised.

The quake had a magnitude of three on the Richter scale. The tremor occurred 1,000 metres underground at around 3:00 p.m.
