One hurt in munition plant blast
A special commission will investigate the causes of a Thursday explosion in the Mesko SA munition plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna, central Poland, in which one worker was injured, the company said in a statement.
The company wrote that the explosion took place on one of the plant's production lines. It also informed that an in-house commission will conduct inquiries into the incident.
A female worker on the affected production line suffered external and internal burns in the explosion and has been hospitalised, the company said.
According to local media, the blast was caused by an exploding projectile.
Mesko SA is a munition and missile manufacturer for the Polish army, it also makes components for leading world arms producers. Since 2015, the company has been a part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), a government holding company comprising more than 50 state-owned defence industry manufacturers.
