One dead, one missing after Polish yacht incident in Lithuania

One person died and one is missing after a Polish sailing yacht with a crew of seven capsized in the Lithuanian zone on the Baltic Sea, spokesman of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service Rafal Goeck told PAP on Monday.

The incident occurred near the port of Klaipeda, before 6pm on Sunday. The Polish vessel Lilla W., with seven people on board ran aground, and as a result capsized.

Lithuanian rescue services managed to save six crew members, one of whom, however, died during the rescue operation. The seventh person who fell into the water and could not be found has been declared as missing.
