The Lublin - Stalowa Wola Rozwadów connection has a long history that stretches back to 1886 when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The strategic significance of the line has been a key feature throughout Poland’s recent history being used not only by the Russians in 1914 to improve the flow of supplies to the frontlines, but also by occupying German forces during WWII who expanded it.
