The number of foreigners registered with the Polish Social Security Institution (ZUS) grew to 658,200 after August 2020, up by 30,000 since the end of July.

ZUS head Gertruda Uscinski said that growing numbers indicate a return to the state from before the outbreak of the pandemic.

For several years, ZUS has seen an increase in the number of citizens from over 170 countries who work in Poland. At the end of 2015, there were some 185,000 insured foreigners. A year later, that number jumped to 293,000. However, the biggest increases came in 2017 and 2018.

According to ZUS, the biggest number of ZUS-registered foreigners comes from Ukraine (480,900), Belarus (44,100) and Georgia (10,500).
