A new project entitled Ministry of Heroes was launched on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War Two. Its task is to support information-sharing activities about WWII and Polish and foreign heroes.

On September 1, the Ministry of Heroes released a video on their Facebook page encouraging people to research their family history. The video shows children finding WWII era military memorabilia while playing hide and seek. "There were heroes in every family, find them in yours,” says the narrator.

The project uses Goethe's famous quote as its motto: "The hero draws inspiration from the virtue of his ancestors."

Ministry of Heroes is funded by the Industrial Development Agency and is being held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The instigator of the project, Pawel Szopa from 'Red Is Bad', a producer of patriotic streetwear, said that "delving into the tragic fate of families from that time, one can find that in almost all of them, examples of heroism can be found. This is extremely important nowadays, when the young generation needs good examples, which, as it turns out, are not lacking among our ancestors."

He added that the aim of the project is to show the world the heroism of Poles and heroes from other nations, who of their own free will, opposed totalitarianism.

The CEO of Industrial Development Agency, Agnieszka Wasilewska, observed that the Ministry of Heroes performs an educational role, as it has an attractive ways of telling the stories in order to attract young people.

Among the heroes whose biographies will be presented by the Ministry, there will be names known all over the world, but also those whose heroism has, so far, only by their immediate family.
