US troops that are to be additionally deployed to Poland will participate in future editions of the Dragon defensive exercise, Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Tuesday inspecting this year's Dragon-19 manoeuvres in north Poland.

Błaszczak said the aim of including the Americans in the exercise was to train Polish forces to cooperate with other NATO armies.

Last week in Washington US and Polish Presidents Donald Trump and Andrzej Duda signed a defence cooperation agreement foreseeing the enlargement of US forces in Poland by about a thousand troops. Poland also declared its wish to buy 32 US-made F-35 fighter aircraft.

Dragon-19 is the biggest military exercise in Poland this year. The defensive manoeuvres are focused on cooperation between military and non-military units. The exercise will continue until June 25.
