New regulations relaxing Covid restrictions in place from Sunday
A regulation by the Council of Ministers easing a number of Covid related restrictions was announced on Sunday, the new rules will be in place until June 25.
According to the regulation, the ban on organising or participating in gatherings, except for those organised on the basis of a notification or decision, shall be maintained until June 25, with the maximum number of participants not exceeding 150 (until now the figure was set at 50). The previous rule stating that the distance between assemblies must not be less than 100 metres will also remain in place.
In the case of meetings held, until June 25, there will be an order to keep a distance of at least 1.5 metres between participants and to cover the nose and mouth, unless the meeting is held outdoors.
Also until June 25, restrictions will apply to gatherings organised as part of church activities and other religious associations. Such meetings may be held in buildings, provided that "there are, at a distance of not less than 1.5 m, no more than 1 person per 15 sqm of space, except for religious worshipers or people involved with burials, people employed by a funeral parlour or a funeral home, and that the participants comply with the rule of covering the nose and mouth... with the exception of religious worshipers." In the event of such gatherings taking place outdoors, participants must be at a minimum distance of not less than 1.5 metres.
Other changes will come into effect in public transport, where the number of vacant places will drop from the current 50 percent to 25 percent. The regulation also repeals the ban on the organisation of gambling on slot machines and the operation of casinos.
The operation of gyms, clubs and fitness centres will only be possible provided that the 1 person per 15 sqm rule is observed. The conditions for playrooms are similar, but the limit will not include people vaccinated against COVID-19.
The regulation abolishes the previous order that the activity of preparing and serving meals and drinks to guests sitting at tables is allowed only in an outdoor garden area.
