New infections with Covid-19 in Poland double on Wed
The number of new infections with Covid-19 increased to 15,698, as Poland wrestles with a third wave of epidemic, Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska has said.
"New cases, unfortunately, are increasing from day to day, and this is a very disturbing signal," Kraska told public broadcaster Polish Radio One.
A week ago on Wednesday there were 12,146 new cases. Kraska added that according to Wednesday data, 309 people had died due to coronavirus infection or complications from the disease.
On Tuesday, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP) daily wrote that the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to temporary hospitals in Poland is on the rise, with more than a half of the beds already occupied.
Wednesday data on new infections are still far from the daily all time high recorded in early November 2020 at above 27,000.
