New Amazon logistics centre in Poland will be its most automated
The Amazon logistics center in Gliwice, southern Poland, is scheduled to start operations in 2020. It will be the company's largest facility of its type in terms of robotisation solutions.
The new Amazon facility being built in the Katowice Special Economic Zone, will employ more than 1,000 workers. It will be a four-storey structure with an area of 210,000 square metres.
The logistics centre will feature more robotisation than Amazon's other facilities of this type in Poland.
In Gliwice, the company will utilise the Amazon Robotics System and palletisers. The first will help employees store products on shelves and complete orders, while the latter will unload and move items that weigh over 15 kg.
Amazon employs 16,000 people in Poland.
