The objective of the drill, being conducted in Ukraine for the first time, is to assess the level of skills of subordinate units within the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade during a conditional defence mission.

"The multinational exercises under Lithuanian and Polish command, and held on our territory, emphasise the readiness of our partners to provide assistance in the fight against an aggressor," said General Yevhen Moisyuk, Commander of the Air Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a briefing.

The capabilities of the brigade and its staff to manage such units are of key importance, added the general.

More than 1,200 Lithuanian, Polish, Ukrainian, as well as US servicemen are taking part in the exercise which also involves over 200 combat vehicles.

The drill is being run in four phases and will end on July 31.
