More tourists taking advantage of overnight accomodation in Poland

The number of foreign tourists who stayed overnight in Poland during the first half of 2018 increased by 6.3 pct to 15.1 mln from 14.2 mln a year earlier, according to Central Statistical Office (GUS) data released on Friday.

The share of foreign tourists using accommodation establishments in Poland in the first half of 2018 reached 20.7 percent. In all, 3.1 million foreign tourists stayed in Poland at least for one night, according to GUS data.

The vast majority of tourists, 77.6 percent, stayed in hotels (11.7 million people), while 3.4 million, or 22.4 percent, stayed in other facilities like lodges, hostels or campsites.

The largest increase in the number of tourists taking advantage of overnight accommodation in the first half of 2018, compared to the same period of the previous year, was recorded by campsites (up 88.6 percent).
