To mark the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO and the 15th anniversary of its joining the European Union, a 'Strong Through Alliances' military parade will be held on May 3 in Warsaw, the Defence Ministry announced on Thursday.

According to the ministry, nearly 2,000 people will take part in the parade, including soldiers from Polish Armed Forces and allied forces.

This year's parade will involve the participation of other uniformed services such as the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service, Railroad Guards and State Protection Bureau, the ministry noted.

The "Strong Through Alliances" military parade will feature over 200 vehicles, as well as the newest equipment of the Armed Forces and Police. In addition, close to 80 aircraft - airplanes and helicopters - will be presented.

The parade will move along the Wisłostrada (a succession of streets by the Vistula river) in Warsaw. The event also includes an opportunity to meet with soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces at promotion stands.

Poland joined NATO on March 12, 1999 together with the Czech Republic and Hungary. It became a full member of the European Union on May 1, 2004.
