Majority of Poles believe women have right to pursue careers - poll

Seventy-four percent of Poles believe that women have an equal right to pursue professional careers, even if it may have a slight impact on their home and family responsibilities, a new Kantar poll shows.

When compared to Kantar polls done in 1994 and 2014, 46 percent and 64 percent of those polled, respectively, said women had an equal right to pursue professional careers.

In the newest Kantar poll conducted in December, 22 percent of the respondents indicated that women should, first of all, give priority to their roles as mothers and wives, before considering professional careers. In 1994 and 2014, the levels were at 50 percent and 31 percent, respectively.

The survey was conducted on December 4-9, 2020, on a representative sample of 1015 Polish residents aged 18 and above, using the computer-assisted personal interviews (CAPI) method.
