Poland's national carrier LOT is to launch a new direct route between Warsaw and Washington DC from June 2020, the company has announced.

The first PLL LOT direct flight to Washington will leave Warsaw on June 2, 2020, after which flights will depart every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will take off from the Polish capital at 16.50 and will touch down in Washington at 20.30 local time. Expected flight time is over nine hours.

PLL LOT President Rafal Milczarski, in Monday's communique, said that "a direct route between Warsaw and Washington has been on our 'shortlist' for some time. During a thorough business analysis, we noticed that this is not just a route linking Poland's capital with the USA, but this route is also connected to the potential arising from the yearly increase in tourism and business trips. Apart from that, Central and Eastern Europe has not had such a convenient connection to Washington. New routes to the USA are at the core of our strategy and I'm sure that the announcement of the Washington flights will not be our last word on the subject."
