The closing down of the economy costs Poland PLN 1.3 billion (EUR 280 million) each day, the Rzeczpospolita daily wrote on Friday.

Krzysztof Poznański, managing director of the Polish Council of Shopping Centres, told the daily that "the previous 15 weeks of lockdowns have resulted in losses in the turnover of shops and services exceeding PLN 33 billion (EUR 7.14 billion)."

Rzeczpospolita noted that there are not many winners. Among those who have improved their economic performance, apart from manufacturers of hygienic and disinfecting materials, are on-line retailers. Their revenues have increased by over 30 percent, to PLN 100 billion (EUR 21.63 billion) in 2020, wrote the daily.
