Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius expressed his hope that Poland and Lithuania would maintain the current intensity and quality of the cooperation between states after the presidential elections in Poland, won by President Andrzej Duda on Sunday.

"We care about preserving what has been created. I am talking not only about the intensity of contacts, but also about strategic projects, for example in the field of defense and security," the minister said.

Linkevicius added that further cooperation between Lithuania and Poland will be discussed this week during joint celebrations of the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, on July 15. Lithuanian President and Prime Minister Gitanas Nauseda and Saulius Skvernelis are scheduled to visit Poland for the celebrations.

The minister said that the Lithuanian prime minister and four ministers are also to pay a visit to Warsaw on Tuesday, where numerous meetings are planned.
