Kraków airport handles over 6 mln passengers in 2018

The Kraków-Balice International Airport in southeastern Poland handled a record-high 6,769,369 passengers last year, 16 percent more than in 2017, the airport announced on Thursday.

The company crossed the threshold of six million passengers for the first time in the airport's history.

According to the airport, in December 2018, nearly 559,000 passengers used took advantage of the winter vacation routes, 17 percent more than in the previous December. The company reported that last month saw a total of 4,216 take-offs and landings, 14 percent up on December 2017.

"The end of the year, especially December, was full of many interesting events (...) which are a confirmation for us that a consistent strategy for the development of the connection network at the Kraków Airport contributes to the further, dynamic development of Małopolska region," observed airport president Radosław Włoszek.

Kraków Airport is the second largest in Poland in terms of the number of passengers serviced, and the biggest airport in the region. Twenty carriers offer a winter timetable that includes 100 connections to 27 countries on four continents.
