Int'l Choir Festival starts online in Poland due to pandemic

Nine choirs from Asia, Europe and North America will participate in the Mundus Cantat 16th International Choir Festival starting in Poland's northern city of Sopot on Monday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's edition is being held in a hybrid format.
The choirs from Lithuania, Belarus, Spain, Thailand, China, Mexico and Poland will take part in the competition part of the festival.
Apart from the competition, the festival's programme also envisages two online Freedom Concerts. The first will be devoted to Belarus and meant as a symbol of support to the Belarusian people in their fight for democracy and freedom. The second will be dedicated to Venezuela, which has been suffering from an economic crisis.
The choirs from the Philippines, the US, Israel, Colombia and Poland have accepted the invitation to perform during the two special concerts. The Mundus Cantat Festival Choir from Sopot will sing during a concert for Venezuela.
All concerts will be available on the Mundus Cantat Sopot Facebook profile. The festival will end on November 28.
