PKP Intercity, Poland's leading passenger railway service, carried a record number of passengers by mid-November this year, the company has reported.

From January, PKP Intercity has handled more than 50 million passengers, according to a statement released on Thursday.

This is the best result since 2019 when, in the same period, nearly 49 million people traveled on the carrier's trains, the company said.

In October 2022, 5.2 million travellers used the services of PKP Intercity, and this September it was over 4.8 million passengers, the data from the railway operator shows.

During the Independence Day weekend (November 10-13), the 50 millionth passenger boarded an Intercity train, setting the record in the number of passengers in the company's history, the carrier said.
