Incumbent president's rival leads in run-off election poll

A total of 47.2 pct of those surveyed said they would vote for Rafał Trzaskowski in the second round of the run-off election, while current President Andrzej Duda can count on 45.9 pct support, shows an IBRiS poll for the Wirtualna Polska (WP) web portal.

In the second round of presidential election, which will be held on Sunday, July 12, current President Andrzej Duda, who is supported by the ruling United Right camp, will face Rafał Trzaskowski, the centrist Civic Coalition (KO) candidate.

In the survey, carried out on July 4, respondents were asked how they would vote if the election was held on Sunday, July 5.

A total of 47.2 percent of those polled said they would vote for Rafał Trzaskowski, a drop of 0.9 percentage points compared to the previous IBRiS survey for WP, whereas 45.9 percent declared they would vote for Andrzej Duda, which compared to the previous survey was an increase of 0.3 percentage points.

The poll also showed that 65.4 percent of the respondents declared their participation in the election, while 31.9 percent indicated they would not vote.

IBRiS ran the survey on July 4, on a nationwide representative sample of 1,100 Poles, using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method.
