Iga Świątek to play with Łukasz Kubot at Australian Open

Poles Iga Świątek and Łukasz Kubot gained the so-called 'wild card' and will play together at the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament, Artur Bochenek, from the Warsaw Sport Group Open, announced on Wednesday.

"The doubles champion and Wimbledon junior champion will play together in the Australian Open," Bochenek wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

In 2018, 17-year old Świątek won the Wimbledon Junior Championships, while Kubot won at doubles at Wimbledon a year earlier.

The mixed doubles match will be an additional competition for both players in Melbourne. Świątek will also play Italian Camila Griorgi on Thursday. Kubot progressed to the second round of doubles on Wednesday.
