Poland's Iga Świątek has defeated Czech Kristyna Pliskova 6-0 and 6-1 in the semi final of the WTA tournament in Lugano, Switzerland, and advanced to the final round of the event.

On Sunday, the 17-year-old Polish tennis player will face 27-year old Polona Hercog of Slovenia.

The tennis player from Warsaw will play for the first time in the decisive duel of an event of this rank.

In 2018, Świątek won the Wimbledon Junior Championships in London.

A good performance in Switzerland will result in another promotion for Świątek in the global ranking. On Monday, she will debut in the Top 100, and now she is 88th in the virtual ranking. A victory would allow her to move into the low eighties.
