A new mural has gone up in Warsaw to encourage support for local restaurants struggling because of the pandemic.

Designed to look like a page of advertisements in a newspaper, with individual boxes advertising different food places around the capital, the mural from Good Looking Studio takes up the whole side of a building.

The hand-painted mural was done pro bono “to encourage Poles to support gastronomy in their area.”Good looking studio/Radek Nowik

Karol Klepacki of Good Looking Studio said: “Many of these places are our friends' places, or simply places that we like to visit.

“However, this mural has a symbolic dimension: it aims to draw attention to the difficult situation of the restaurant market.

“We did it pro bono and our goal is to encourage Poles to support gastronomy in their area.”

The idea is that, by doing so, people will help their favourite places to survive the pandemic and be able to return to them properly once the economy reopens.

The mural features more than 10 restaurants, bars and coffeeshops, from Café Mozaika, which dates back to 1960, to places serving cocktails or vegetarian food.

Government restrictions introduced since the start of the coronavirus pandemic have led to restaurants adapting their businesses to offer takeaway or delivery services.
