Housing starts in Poland fell by 0.3 percent year on year and by 10.3 percent month on month in August 2020, to 19,460 units, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Monday.

Housing completions in August decreased by 3.7 percent year on year and by 23.3 percent month on month, standing at 16,692 units, GUS reported.

The number of housing construction permits issued in August went down by 5.3 percent year on year and by 13.9 percent month on month to 21,252.

During the first eight months of the year, housing starts reached 141,115, down 10.0 percent year on year, and housing completions stood at 135,804 units, up by 5.5 percent. The number of newly issued construction permits decreased by 4.6 percent year on year to 168,254.

In 2019, housing starts reached 237,281, up 6.9 percent year on year, while housing completions stood at 207,224 units, up 12.0 percent. The number of newly issued construction permits in 2019 increased by 4.4 percent year on year to 268,483.
