Hitachi ABB Power Grids joins Polish plan to develop offshore wind energy
Hitachi ABB Power Grids has joined Poland's scheme to boost the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea, the company said on Wednesday.
In July, delegates from Poland's climate, defence, maritime economy and inland waterways, and state assets ministries and representatives of offshore wind energy sector signed a letter of intent on cooperation in expanding the use of this energy source in Poland.
Hitachi ABB Power Grids, as a cooperating partner, has joined work on implementing the provisions of the document, the company said.
Modelled on the British solution, the initiative brings together the government, investors, wind farm operators and entities participating in the supply chain.
Hitachi ABB Power Grids "brings in a wealth of knowledge and experience," Deputy Minister of Climate and the government plenipotentiary for renewable energy, Ireneusz Zyska said.
Poland plans to install around 5.9 GW of offshore wind power by 2030, and 8-10 GW by 2035.
