High-level meeting on coronavirus planned for Monday morning

President Andrzej Duda is scheduled to meet on Monday with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski, Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński and PM Office's head Michał Dworczyk to discuss the coronavirus situation.

The meeting will be held at the National Security Bureau at 9 am, followed by a press conference, presidential spokesperson Błażej Spychalski told PAP on Sunday.

Later, at 10 am, at Duda's request, a special sitting of the Sejm, lower house, will be convened to present the government's report on steps taken and the current situation regarding the coronavirus threat.

According to the government, Poland is prepared for the development of the situation related to the coronavirus - all services are ready, equipped with knowledge, materials and procedures in the event of the first case in Poland. Regular briefings and meetings take place on this matter.

Poland's Health Ministry has issued an ordinance enabling the application of the Law on Infectious Diseases in the case of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Under its provisions, persons suspected of contracting an infectious disease are subject to mandatory medical and epidemiological examinations.
