Gripping thriller The Pleasure Principle to be aired on Franco-German TV station Arte
Beta Film, the global distributor of hit serial ‘The Pleasure Principle‘ (Zasada przyjemności) has sealed a deal with French-German TV behemoth Arte to screen the show in May 2020.
First shown in Poland, the murder mystery starring Małgorzata Buczkowska and the Czech Republic’s Karel Roden has been a hit with viewers and critically acclaimed for its exceptional quality.
The storyline takes viewers to the very heart of a multi-faceted police investigation launched following the murders of young women in Warsaw, Odessa and Prague.
The bodies bear testament to brutal violence and one thing is clear: the murders are connected.
Officers from Poland, Ukraine and the Czech Republic, conducting independent investigations, are forced to work together.
Their journeys lead to suspect businessmen, shady lawyers and corrupt politicians as well as to professional killers and traces of a common history.
But things are rarely as they seem…
“’The pleasure principle’ is an ambitious European serial, that gathers together exceptionally talented creators from three different countries,” said director Dariusz Jabłoński.
“We worked together on creating not so much a TV serial as a film in parts.
“I’m very pleased that Arte, a station known worldwide as a symbol of the highest quality of television programmes, has bought our serial, the first in the history of Central Europe.”
The 10-hour premium TV serial, the first ever international co-production in Central and Eastern Europe, was produced by CANAL+ Polska, Czech Television and Russian-Ukrainian production company Star Media.
