Greece the most popular travel destination for Poles
The most popular holiday destination for Poles was Greece, according to the most recent report of the Polish Chamber of Tourism (PIT), "Foreign holidays of Poles in 2018". The chamber announced that this has been a successful season for the tourism industry so far.
The report states that most tourist-office clients preferred week-long all-inclusive travel packages and air travel.
In the first half of 2018, nearly four million passengers chose package holidays, which was 14 percent more than in previous year, Paweł Niewiadomski, said the president of PIT.
He added that travel in the 2018 summer season increased by over 40 percent in the comparison with 2017. These data refer only to the package holidays organised from April 28 to August 31, 2018.
As in the previous years, the most popular destination among Poles was Greece, as 31 percent of tourist-office clients chose this country. Turkey took second place (14.9 percent), while Bulgaria placed third (13.6 percent).
Five Greek islands - Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Corfu and Kos - turned out to be the best-selling tourist destinations among Poles. Around 25 percent of Polish travellers spent their vacations there this year. Over 11 percent of Poles vacationed on the Turkish Riviera, 7.3 percent traveled to the Sunny Beach resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast and 4.3 percent went to Hurghada in Egypt.
According to PIT, bus travel lost its popularity, as only 2.2. percent of all trips were bus-travel tours.
