Poland's Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) held its 27th finale on Sunday to collect funds for equipment for children's hospitals.

In this year's annual campaign, headlined "Helping is child's play," some 120,000 volunteers collected donations across Poland and in many cities abroad, including New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Australia and the Philippines. Outdoor concerts, fairs, auctions (including e-auctions) and sports events were also held.

Over the 26 years of its operations, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has collected ca. PLN 951 million (EUR 221.68 million). Last year alone, the gathered funds totalled PLN 126 million (EUR 29.37 million). By 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, the orchestra had collected almost PLN 53 million (EUR 12.35 million).

The final amount will be officially announced by head of the WOŚP Foundation Jurek Owsiak in March.
