The Polish government's epidemic aid for businesses may rise to PLN 20 billion (EUR 4.4 billion) if a national quarantine is announced, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday.

Morawiecki said the minimum cost of the government's COVID-19-related support was estimated at approximately PLN 9 billion to PLN 10 billion (EUR 1.99 billion to EUR 2.21 billion).

"If a national quarantine and a deeper economic lockdown proves necessary in a week or two weeks, these costs will certainly be raised by at least PLN 5-10 billion (EUR 1.1 billion to EUR 2.21 billion)," Morawiecki said.

He also said that Polish enterprises had received over PLN 150 billion (EUR 33.1 billion) in aid during the first epidemic wave in the spring.
