Government rolls out new housing loan scheme

The government has approved a new housing scheme offering first-time buyers loans with 2 percent interest, the prime minister said on Tuesday.
"We have prepared this programme... to enable there to be as many flats as possible, and for people to be able to afford them," said Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister.
Under the new scheme low-interest loans will be available to first-time flat buyers under 45 on condition that neither they nor any members of their household had ever owned a flat.
The maximum loan amount will be PLN 500,000 (EUR 107,000) for single applicants and PLN 600,000 (EUR 128,000) for married couples and couples with at least one child.
The new scheme is to come into force on July 1.
