German president wishes President Duda speedy recovery from COVID-19
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is under quarantine, expressed his wishes for a quick and full recovery to President Andrzej Duda who, a few days ago, tested positive for the coronavirus.
Steinmeier, in a hand-written note quoted by the German press agency dpa, wrote that the COVID-19 pandemic was putting "our health care system, our economy, community and each of us" to a very difficult test.
He also wrote President Duda that he and all of Germany were following with great concern the dramatic development of the coronavirus pandemic, which was also not sparing Poland.
In difficult medical circumstances like this, "we should do everything possible to help each other," the German president wrote. "Let me know, if there is anything that we can do for Poland in the current situation," he added.
On Saturday, presidential spokesman Błażej Spychalski announced that President Duda had tested positive for the coronavirus.
The president of Germany is in quarantine as one of his security officers had been infected with COVID-19.
