German Patriot crews in Poland next week, Polish Radio says
Several hundred German soldiers to man Patriot air defence batteries in southeast Poland will arrive in the country next week, the Polish Radio Information Agency (IAR) reported on Thursday.
IAR said the soldiers will be stationed in Poland on the strength of a special document signed by Polish President Andrzej Duda.
The Germans will be located in the Lublin area of southeast Poland, IAR said.
The stationing of Patriot missiles in the area was decided after a Ukrainian defence missile fired to fend off a Russian air attack on the country in December accidently struck the village of Przewodow in southeast Poland, killing two people.
